Mailing things to Glenn on the Boat

You can mail things to the squadron on the ship using this address. Only us the U.S. Postal Service and always send Priority Mail. Otherwise it will go by boat and take 2-3 months instead of 1-2 weeks!

LTJG Glenn J. Smith

VAW-115 Unit 25428

FPO AP 96601-6403

Glenn is leaving this week some time. I'll keep you posted.

Getting Closer...

I've been going back and forth with dates and trying to fit everything in that I can before we leave, but it looks like everything can't happen. We still don't have a final date on when Glenn is leaving but after his Stan-Check today (NATOPS Standardization something or other Check) he will finally be able to focus on all the other business and paperwork. I'm guessing he'll leave next week. I'm planning on leaving right after my birthday. I didn't want to risk being alone on my bday! Details to follow as we figure this craziness out!

It's Official

We received our orders today and it says Glenn has to check out by the end of August! I'm hoping they are a little flexible about that! This is really happening!

We spent all day Sunday getting Glenn ready for cruise. It was like getting him ready to go to college we felt like. We had to buy him things for his state room and new uniforms and a new backpack. My little man, all grown up! :)

We are still working on when I will be home/moving to Japan. Family vacations in October make it difficult and then Megan's wedding in December put a crunch on things. Still TBD!

All these dates and things swimming around in my head make working extremely difficult!

Glenn flying & Ali's Wedding

Here is video of Glenn flying from last week:

It's short, but you get the idea. This plane is so much bigger than anything else I've seen him fly!

Also, Ali's wedding was last weekend and she was georgous! Here's a picture of us!

And here's my favorite picture I took of the new couple:

Mr. & Mrs. Olig!

Konichiwa!

We're moving to Japan!!!

Glenn did awesome at the boat and got home at 3 am today and said "We're going to Japan!" I was so sleepy I could barely open my eyes, but after that we were both so wide awake that we couldnt' sleep so we decided TV and pizza was the cure. Who eats pizza at 4:30 am? We do apparently. We finally went back to sleep around 6 and I called work and said I would be in at noon cause I had to call all of the family. Everyone is a little sad we are leaving, but they are very excited for us. I think I'm excited, terrified, scared and sad all rolled in to one. Japan?! What were we thinking? It's going to be an adventure, that's for sure!

The next question everyone asks is WHEN? Glenn will be leaving soon, as in 2-3 weeks. That is scary too. He is deploying. He will most likely be meeting the aircraft carrier wherever it is. I don't even know if he'll go to Japan first. I will be leaving awhile later. Once we determine when we will get in to base housing. We can't stay in the Navy Lodge with Stella so we need to have our own place.

Eek! Japan. Never would have thought I would live there in a million years. I am so excited! So. Excited!

Longest CQ Det Ever!

Glenn was suppose to be done on Sunday. Then it was suppose to be Monday. Now it's looking like Wednesday. Come on people this is getting ridiculous. I want to know if we are moving! Once we know, the craziness can begin.
- Looking for houses.
- Getting ready to move to JAPAN.
- Getting ready to move to California.
Tell me already. Tell me. TELL ME.
I'm anxious, can you tell?

Glenn has been saying his flights have been going well so that is good to hear!

I guess I've waited this long. What's another 24-hours.

On a side note. I get to see Susie Bender tonight. Very excited about that. Haven't seen her since we left Kingsville!

It's boat time!

Yesterday Shelley, Marcy, Laura and I went out to Fentress to watch the guys fly and we got to call "Roger Ball" on the radio. I saw Glenn fly in Kingsville, but this plane is soooo much bigger! I took lots of pictures and video. It seems so big- too big- to even land on a boat. I know Glenn is nervous, but very excited about this weekend. We should know by Monday at the latest if we are moving to Japan! If Glenn gets done earlier we might even know before then. Since he will have to be Pri-A we will know as soon as he is done flying if he made it. This week and weekend could not go any slower! Thank goodness I am flying to Nebraska for Ali & Dan's wedding to take my mind off of things!

That's not actually Glenn flying, but I don't have my camera cord to download the pictures :) It could be though, right?

One step closer...

Glenn has been slated for Japan! Holy crap!

Ben has been slated for the Norfolk Pri-A spot.

Bobby is the backup for both.

Holy crap- we might be moving to Japan!!!

One more week...

Only ONE more week til we find out where we are moving. I am so anxious and scared and excited. I am ready for an adventure and some change whatever it is. Even if we just stay here, I am excited to buy a house and decorate and renovate and all that fun stuff. If we go to California, I am excited for the same things. If we stay in the States that probably means we will start a family sooner (still not for awhile) that if we go to Japan. Japan means adventure though. A crazy uknown adventure full of being apart and travel. Two things that could not be more opposite. I'm scared to be apart from Glenn but excited for the new places we can see and travel together and apart. Hopefully there are people there that are up for an adventure like me.
At least I have something to look forward to this weekend- Ali & Dan's wedding. It makes the time go past a tad bit faster, but honesty, this time is dragging by. Come on next Monday, be here already!

I wish someone had said this to me a long time ago...

"When I was single, I decided I wouldn't marry a man unless I could be proud if we had a son who turned out exactly like him."

I feel like if someone had said that to me when I was 17, I would have saved the next 5 years of my life!

I guess things turn out right though cause now I finally have that man. And I can't wait for that day when we have a son just like him.
