Baby Amelia's Baby Shower

At the beginning of May, myself and 3 other fabulous ladies hosted a baby shower for little Amelia Moran, Chris and Gizelle's baby that is now due in just a few weeks!

We had a pink and blue nautical theme and the other ladies were awesome to host with! So many good ideas!

Gizelle has been obsessed with waffles her entire pregnancy so we had fried chicken and waffles to eat!
A message in a bottle for baby Amelia.
We played one trivia game with Chris, but the only other "game" was an ABC book where everyone chose a letter and drew a picture. I found the idea online and used my Criket to cut out all the letters. It turned out super cute and less raunchy that I had anticipated with all the guys/keg/drinking. :)

Is this their future family? Lots of babies at the shower!
H is for Hand!
All of the hostesses and Gizelle!

She's going to be here before you know it! Enjoy your last few weeks!

Ahoy! It's still a boy.

Where did November go? Seriously, I cannot believe there are only 6.5 more weeks left in this pregnancy. I do NOT feel prepared and with all the holiday festivities, there is just so much going on. I am glad we are not traveling for Christmas this year, but hosting requires just as much work I feel sometimes. At least my baby daddy is calm and organized because I am not feeling that way.
So...I am long over due to post a wonderful thank you to my sister-in-law for hosting a beautiful baby shower in my honor in October. In the words of my father, "she is a hostess with the mostest" and it was a wonderful laid back occasion. I got to catch up with some of my favorite people and that was what was most important to me.
My best friend, Emily and I who had her little guy just a few days ago. Our due dates are about 7 weeks apart. Can't wait til our little guys get to meet!
Grandma and the baby daddy. I don't think I have a picture, but Cheryl bought tiny cowboy boots. Wowzers are they cute. I see a photo shoot session in the future.

All the lovely ladies. Thank you so much!

Sarah drove up from Iowa and Ali flew in from California. I have amazing friends! Thanks for color coordinating with the affair as well. :) Miss you all!

And since Jen is so amazing at all the details

Glenn was a peanut when he was born and I was a chunker. I'm hoping we end up with a baby somewhere in between!

Thank you, Jen for opening your home and organizing such a beautiful event. It was the best!

Party Peeve

I've gotten a few invitation for showers, both baby and bridal, recently where I was asked to bring food and/or drink. Has anyone else experience this? I find it strange that I am not hosting or co-hosting the event, yet I am asked to provide for the party. Am I the only one who friends this strange?

"Hi, thanks for coming and partaking in your own food."

Does this mean I don't have to bring a gift? I am sure I would get more than a few stares if I showed up without an appropriately themed tissue paper filled bag.

When I host a party, I rarely ask people to bring something unless they volunteer it first. In one invitation it said, "Here are the details and here is a list of what you must also bring." I found it a little off-putting but at least informative. The other invitation had no details whatsoever. Should I bring a cake? Should I bring a steak? Who knows? I don't even know what other people are bring or how many people are coming.

I know that hosting a shower can be expensive. A friend and I co-hosted a shower in March and we both spent several hundred dollars. I know not everyone can afford this, but then I ask, why did you volunteer to host a shower?

Perhaps I am wrong. Please tell me if you disagree, but I am already spending money on a gift, now I have to feed myself too?
