HEGH Ball Admin

This year the HEGH Ball after-party or "admin" was an Olympics theme for VAW-120. Everyone changed in to their olympic best. Glenn went with a soccer uniform which was convenient since he was easy to find in stripes. The admins are held in the majority of the conference rooms above the hotel ballroom. Each squadron has their own admin room with different theme and decorations.
In our admin they had set up various Olympic sports- Nintendo sports complete with the flood pad. My favorite part was the podium complete with flags. We had the US, French and Australian flags since there are squadron members from all three countries. It got a little dangerous at times though when the French and Australians tried to take the gold spot. I avoided this area while in my white dress!
The luge. Perhaps more of a winter olympic sport, but fun for all! I can't wait til next year when I can enjoy the party as much as everyone else!

Hawkeye Greyhound Ball

A couple of weekends ago was the 2012 Hawkeye Greyhound Ball. Glenn and I have attended the Badman Ball in Japan, but this was our first East Coast HEGH Ball. We just missed the 2008 ball before we moved to Japan. They are always a good time and it is fun to catch up with friends we haven't seen since flight school or who are in other squadrons and we don't see too often. And it's always fun to get dressed up.
What's a pregnant girl to do? Vanilla or chocolate? It's hard to tell from these pics, but there are over 500 people that attend the ball from 5 Hawkeye (E2) squadrons, 1 greyhound (C2) squadron, the FRS (VAW-120, that's us) and several tables of contractors and VIPs. Pretty much, it's a dinner and party, but they present the colors (flags) at the beginning.
I love those choker whites! If only they weren't so uncomfortable.
Gizelle and I. I am not ready for them to get new orders in just a couple weeks!
The Gilberts were in town from Newport for the ball. Yay!
The after party is always a good time. More pics on that later! An olympic swimming pool of packing peanuts? Sounds like fun!
Ice luge champions! It was definitely a different experience being sober at a Navy event, but they are always fun regardless. And I was able to drive home and spend the night in my own bed which I always enjoy. One thing we did learn, never stash your bag under the table with the ice luge! My tote bag was filled with 8 inches of water! Unfortunately so were Glenn's after-party clothes. Nothing an iron, blow dryer and a little body heat couldn't fix though.

Happy Hawkeye Greyhound Ball! I love this Navy community!

A Before & After

Haha. You thought I meant a house project, didn't you? Nope. Ice luge instead. Shot anyone?
Gizelle seems to be enjoying it. I'm sure I am opening the window for an onslaught of drunken pictures of myself, but that's ok. This picture makes me smile!

Badgirl Themes

I'm always impressed with each squadron's creativity when it comes to themes for badgirl ball. This year was no exception. We had Robert Palmer and the "Addicted to Love" video of course.
VFA-115 as the Topiary Girls...it's a razor commercial I believe. Very cute skit!
VAQ-136 as the Spice Girls
HSL-51 as Girl Scouts.
VFA-192 as Flight Attendants.
VFA-102 as Japanese School Girls.
HS-14 as the Wizards of Harry Potter.
Oh and just me and my favorite bartender!

Addicted to Love

For our theme this year, we went dressed as Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love Video. Apparently, I'm not quite old enough to know the video, but we watched the video a few times and I think we came pretty close!
We changed the words of the song to make it more "homecoming" themed since this is our half-way party, after all.
And the rest of the night was shenanigans as usual!
My Liberty Bell ladies and man and Det 5 ladies know how to have a good time!
It's doesn't hurt when you get first place again!

Badgirls!

This weekend was the annual Badgirl Ball and games. It is always an awesome weekend and this year didn't disappoint. The Liberty Bells/Det 5 combo team was the Badgirl Games champions for the second year in a row! This weekend is topped off by the fact that Glenn is coming home TODAY! Deployments are finished for 3 years!
This year we competed in a few relay races, tug of war and a few other "family reunion style" games.

Thank you to the CAG 5 ladies who organized the events and party. You did a great job!

"Badman" 2011

Badman Ball is usually a formal event. And it is usually in April, but because of the earthquake, it didn't exactly happen as planned. Some last minute planning resulted in a Key West themed cocktail party at the O'Club last Saturday.

Our resident party planner, Kristy, made the cutest centerpiece as well! Yellow flamingos courtesy of a free trip to America. Thank you, U.S. Navy!
Cassie and I

I was able to stay away from the jello shots, but not the champagne ice luge! Fun times!
I also couldn't never resist a good game of flip cup. Who was the champion? This girl! My mother must be so proud!
The Navy may have messed up my world a few times, but they sure do know how to throw a good party! Happy Badman CVW-5!

Badgirl Ball: Costumes

Each year, the squadrons get creative with their "Badgirl" themes. I'm always impressed. We also put together a skit or short dance/song/joke to introduce us to the rest of the part. It's a Navy tradition that I love. It's called the Roll Call. Many of these pictures are from the Roll Calls.

VFA-115: Stepford Wives
VFA-102: Austin Powers and the Fembots

 VFA-27: Roller Derby Girls
 HSL-51: Bollywood
 VFA-195: Superheroes
 VAQ-136: Gilligan's Island
 VRC-30 Det 5: Harajuku Girls
And of course my very own VAW-115 Pink Ladies

I apparently never took a picture of the HS-14 Can Can Girls either.

Such a fun night!

Badgirl Ball: Champions!

This year's Badgirl Games champions were the VAW-115 Liberty Bells! Our trophy was a lovely leg lamp complete with all the squadron zappers! Perfect!

How did it take me 28 years to discover these?

For Badgirl ball, I wore fake eyelashes cause it seemed to fit the era and they sell them in 2 packs for $1 here! OMG, I love them! I want the wear them everyday. Why did I knot wear them for my wedding? So fun. I think I need to stock up before I leave Japan.
Sorry for the mega-closeness of only 1 eye. I had taken one eyelash off and my makeup before I decided to take a picture. And I was kinda drunk.
