First Annual LincFest

We celebrated Lincoln's first birthday the weekend after his birthday. I had so much fun planning it! I wanted our little rockstar's day to be lots of fun. I made his invite from a picture that my sister in law took and then added the text and printed them for 10 cents each!
I made a lot of the decorations with my Cricut machine and scrapbooking supplies. Lincoln did not partake in the Lincfest Stout, but many of the attendees enjoyed it. :)

We had several of Lincoln's friends over as well as a few neighbors and Lincoln's Mimi and great mimi were there too!

Lincoln loved his cake and once we showed him out to get a bite out and he put it in his mouth, he didn't move his hand away from his mouth. He just kept shoving and shoving!

His car was a big hit with all his friends, too!

He did a good job with his cake. I didn't even think about the fact that I didn't put a bib on him or cover the floor. He didn't make too big of a mess. He never took a nap that afternoon before his party but I'm sure the sugar kept him going cause he wasn't too crabby surprisingly.
Hard to believe our little rockstar is one already. The time went by so fast and now we have a full blow toddler!
Thanks for coming to my party, Mimi!

Lincoln's Birthday Present

I pulled this guy out of my neighbor's trash when Lincoln was 5 or 6 months old. I took Stella for a walk before work, saw it and on my way out of the neighborhood, tossed it in the back of my car. My neighbor saw me do it and said, "Oh good, I was hoping someone would take it!"

So it wasn't weird. Ok, a little weird.

Fast forward 6 months and I finally pulled it out of the corner of the basement. Scrubbed it down, taped off the wheels and steering wheel and then put a layer of primer on it. I used spray paint designed for plastic. I used an entire can of primer on the coupe.
After the primer, I spray the center of the car with white spray paint. After it drieed, I taped off the racing stripes. I used one piece of tape to space the stripes, then two more for the stripes themselves. Then I removed the center stripe.

Next, I painted the blue. I probably should have painted the seat next, but I was excited to get the blue on.
After the blue, I tape off the bottom and spray painted it with some leftover silver paint. I had used it to paint some hinges in the master bathroom. Next, I used Zinser primer (not designed for plastic, but a very adhesive primer so I figured it would work) to paint the interior. I painted the roof, the inside of the doors and the trunk.
I forgot to take a picture of the next part, but I taped off the seat and dashboard and painted it with black spray paint.
Next, I peeled off the stripes so I could work on the license plate and grill. I made a stencil for the "ABE 01" part and used stickers for the virginia and JAN 14 part. Once I took off the stripes, I noticed my tape didn't do the best job so I went back over the stripes with the zinser primer and a foam brush. I added a few details with my paint pens - a red stripe around the interior and a silver grill design and silver hubcaps.
I probably spent about $40 on tape and spray paint. I know a new one isn't much more, but little man LOVES it!
He and his lady friend can fit in it together! This was at the end of his birthday party- can you tell he is TIRED?
He hasn't quite gotten the hang of pushing with his feet, but he stands on the seat and lets Glenn or I push him. He loves crawling in it and putting toys in the trunk.

Happy Birthday, Lincoln!

Happy Birthday Ali!

Happy Birthday! I can't wait to see you and YOUR little man in just two weeks. I love you for letting us all come visit the same weekend so that we can love on your little man together and all of us girls can be in the same place for the first time in FIVE years. That's right, this mama is going on a vacation to visit that new mama. Along with 4 of my closest friends. We're renting a mini van. On the opposite coast! Without Lincoln. I get giddy excited thinking about and then terrified two seconds later. Daddy will do great. I can't wait to see you! Have a wonderful birthday, Ali! SEE YOU SOON!

Happy Birthday Adam!

Happy Birthday to my big brother, Adam! Adam is 35 this year! Wow, how did we all get so old?

Interestingly enough, me and my two siblings all married an individual younger than ourselves. Which makes it easy to remember everyone's age. Adam is 35, Laura 34 (or will be in a couple weeks), Dave 33 (skip a year) Jen 31, I am 30 and Glenn is 29!

I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I hope we see you soon! Glenn and I can't wait for you to come visit your nephew next spring/summer.

Birthday Fun.

So turning 30 was not the wild and crazy party that my last several birthdays have been. No Yokohama Oktoberfest this year. Glenn asked me what I wanted to do on my birthday though and I was pretty lame, but I enjoyed it all the same. :)
I wanted to buy some pumpkins and flowers for the porch so we went out to a farm in Virginia Beach and picked up 4 large pumpkins and 2 yellow mums. I think they look pretty cute and unlike last time we lived in Norfolk (in 2007), they didn't get stolen 10 minutes after I put them out!

After enjoying the fall festivities, Glenn watched the Vikes, I worked on my curtains and then we got cleaned up for dinner. I thought we were just going to have a romantic dinner. Perhaps our friends, the Morans, would be there since I had mentioned it at the baby shower the day before (it was a Kelly-tastic weekend).
Glenn had arranged other plans though. Eight of our closest Norfolk friends were at Norfolk Chophouse to surprise me. Nine if you count tiny 2 month old John. We sat Homecoming dance style too. Boys on one side and girls on the other! :)
Glenn had special ordered cupcakes (Samoa girl scout cookie flavor, red velvet and carrot cake. Dang, he knows me pretty well!) and a special birthday girl "wine" glass.
It was such a fun night. I love you Mr. Here's to my thirties! It's going to be a pretty crazy year. Less than 3 months til D day!

Happy Birthday Hayes!

I made a very short trip home a few weekends ago and managed to hit up 3 celebrations in one day! First was little Hayes' 1st birthday party. Last time I saw Hayes, he was only about a month old.
Such a cute family!
I miss my girlfriends back home so much! I'm glad I'll get to see several of them next week for my baby shower. Happy Birthday Hayes!

Dirty Thirty

Hard to believe I'm in a new age bracket now. Glenn surprised me with a dinner with 10 of our closest Norfolk friends on Sunday night! It was wonderful! It's going to be a great year I think, even if I am getting old. ;)
