I wish someone had said this to me a long time ago...

"When I was single, I decided I wouldn't marry a man unless I could be proud if we had a son who turned out exactly like him."

I feel like if someone had said that to me when I was 17, I would have saved the next 5 years of my life!

I guess things turn out right though cause now I finally have that man. And I can't wait for that day when we have a son just like him.

Miss you G!

Glenn has only been gone 4 days, but I miss him so much! I think it's so hard because he is so buys and at weird times that he hasn't even had a chance to call me except for a few minutes at a time. Only another week til he gets home though. It's nice that it always seems to work out that I have plans when he is gone. Got to keep busy!

In True Navy Fashion...

Just as in everything with the Navy. More changes. This time though, it is good changes! We thought Japan was out, but thanks to the thunderstorms last week, only one person got stan-checked so the Pri-A spots are still open to everyone! Japan is still an option! We are very excited again although I'm not sure Glenn's mom is. They want to come visit over Labor Day, but they might just have to wait and come to Japan!

Glenn left this morning for 2 weeks in Jacksonville to get ready for his CQ. Let's hope for good flying and a good head on his shoulders. Both of which I am not worried about :). Two weeks is no fun to be apart, but I suppose I should get used to it. If we get Japan, he may be out of here very quickly!

The start of the boat phase means only 3 or 4 more weeks til decision time. Ahh, I'm so anxious!

How cute is he?! This is Connor, my nephew, at 2 1/2. He is such a cutie now and so fun. Last time I saw him he was 1 1/2, but now he can run and swim and talk and tell you exactly what he wants which can be a good or a bad thing I guess :). Glenn and I had a great time visiting him and it definitely held off the baby bug for awhile! Better to enjoy someone else's baby in my opinion. For now at least :).

Bathroom Window

I can no longer open the bathroom window. There is a spider that has made the window sill his home. This spider is at least <--------------------> this long and <----------------> this wide. It his humungous and I am afraid of it. Glenn won't kill it either. And to make things worse. It is nocturnal so we can only find it at night and it runs away when I turn on the light. How am I suppose to kill a spider in the dark. Seems like an all around bad plan to me.
What am I going to do when Glenn is on deployment. Never open any windows probably.

So maybe not...

Glenn told me yesterday that he heard there may be no Japan slot. I was looking forward to it so much. I always knew there might not be a spot but for the last 6 months we have heard there will be and Glenn has been flying so well. I guess you never know though. We will just have to wait and see! The more time we spend here though the happier I am in Norfolk. I would be happy here in a beautiful house or in California. I guess we will just see where the Navy sends us!

I have lots of cute pictures of Connor that I need to post from our awesome trip to Louisiana over the 4th of July. What a great trip! I miss them all already.

July!

It is July already! I can't believe how quickly June went by. Glenn and I leave on Friday morning for Louisiana to see Adam, Laura & Connor. It has been a year since I last saw Connor and he is going to be so different. He talks and swims and runs now. Before he was barely saying a few words. He is getting so big so fast. I am obviously excited to see Connor, but it will be nice to see Glenn too! He has been flying night flights which means he doesn't get home til after midnight. I leave before he gets up and I am asleep when he gets home. I can't imagine what it must be like for people that work different shifts than their spouse. It must feel like they aren't even married.
July also means that it is only ~6 weeks until we find out where we move to! Glenn has been flying very well (knock knock) so let's hope that continues through the boat. He leaves in just over 3 weeks for his FCLP Det to Jax. Japan here we come (I hope!)!

A Navy Wife

Yesterday I felt I have officially earned the rank of Navy Wife. Yes we have been married for over 2 years, but yesterday I finally learned to take it all in stride.
Glenn finally started flying last week and has had a total of 3 or 4 flights. Typically if they are leaving for a cross-country (weekend flights to some destination in order to get more flight time) they are notified by Wednesday. Wednesday came and passed and no phone call so the weekend plan-making began. BBQs, art festivals, planned, check. Well Thursday evening evening rolls around and of course, Glenn is scheduled for a cross-country to Dayton (why?) Ohio leaving on Friday morning.
No moaning about weekend plans and such here. Just an "Ok, have fun" and a few "look at the bright sides".
I suppose things can only get more complicated from here, right?

Home

I just got back Sunday night from being home for a week and it was so wonderful! I love spending time with my family so much. It is hard to be away from good friends and family. What we do for the Navy amazing, but Glenn is doing what he loves.
Sarah and Brian's wedding was beautiful and so much fun. It was a sea of pink, but very Sarah. I love that our husbands/finaces/boyfriends all get along and have fun together. No one can make me laugh like that group of people. I also got to see Emily and the new BF, Chris. We like him a lot so that is good. Sounds like they are moving in together soon!
Amy and Curt's wedding was beautiful also. I wish I could have been able to stay longer, but I had to make the drive back to MN for Ali's bachlorette party. You just can't please everyone. Amazingly, I managed to make it from DM to MSP in 3 hrs 10 min. Without a ticket! I'm glad I got to do part of each person's day. It's hard being away. I don't think anyone quite understands how much we spend on plane tickets since we've been away. I have a feeling it will only get worse in Japan, but hopefully they come visit us too (Japan Summer 2010!).
I'm just anxious for this summer to be over. I want August to be here and to know where we are going next! I am excited for 4th of July though. We are going to visit Adam, Laura & Connor. Yay! It has been a year since I have seen them! Can't wait!
